Before You Go

At VIP Global Medical, we strive to make your travels as seamless as possible by helping make sure your bases are covered. You can rely on the checklist we have created below to take the guess work out of your planning. When preparing to take any trip out of the country, whether it is to serve on your own, or with others, be certain to review our checklist before you go.

Step One: Secure Coverage for You or Your Group

Challenge: It is essential to protect your family, missionaries, employees, or yourself while travelling abroad from expenses related to injury and illness.

VIP Global Medical Solution: Choose one of the many international medical plans designed with different travelers and different needs in mind. Contact us with any questions you may have on choosing the right coverage for you.

Step Two: Create a Church Board Resolution Kit

Challenge: Organizing a group trip can leave a church or school legally liable when an injury occurs and the participants are unprotected. This exposure places the ministry at great financial risk.

VIP Global Medical Solution: Use our Church Board Resolution Kit to protect your ministry. A clear resolution with international travel protection reduces the liability and clarifies the intent of the mission.

Step Three: Register with the Department of State

Challenge: If you were to experience a natural disaster or travel emergency in your country of travel, would your family or government be able to easily locate and assist you?

VIP Global Medical Solution: Travel registration is a free service provided by the U.S. Department of State to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country. Registration allows you to report information about your upcoming trip and expedite location and rescue missions.

Step Four: Check the Travel Warnings for Your Trip

Challenge: Natural disasters or political and civil unrest can make a country dangerous or unstable to travel in and can leave you in a precarious situation.

VIP Global Medical Solution: Learn about a specific country’s situation in our security zone. Check for current travel alerts and warnings in your destination country.

Step Five: Create an Account and Gather Your Documents

  • IMG Coverage Card: On the far right center of this page, current policyholders can create a login and password to access a personalized client portal where they can print off duplicate ID cards, certificate wording, claim forms, activate precertification, and more.

  • Emergency Contact Info: Be sure to have the name, address and phone number of at least two individuals who can serve as emergency contacts should you be separated from your group and injured.

  • List of Your Rx: View details on prescriptions listed in most plans.

  • Valid and Current Passport: Be sure to confirm your passport is not expired and you are prepared to present it when required while you travel.

For additional information on passports such as how to apply, reporting or replacing a lost or stolen passport, corrections, and renewals; please visit the Department of State's Passport Page.

Congratulations!

Once you have taken these five quick steps, you will be able to rest assured that you have taken very important steps in protecting yourself and your fellow travelers. If you would like to review more tips on preparing for a safe trip, please see our complete Travel Checklist.
